Emily Doskow has been serving the LGBT community for 17 years and is a fierce advocate for the legal rights of lesbian and gay couples. The ever-evolving world of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender law is quickly becoming more varied, more tangental, and more inscrutable for the common folk. Lucky for us, there's Emily Doskow to the rescue.  An attorney serving the San Francisco Bay Area LGBT community for over 16 years (and practicing law for close to 20), Emily Doskow can help with domestic partnership rights consultation, custody, adoption services, dissolutions of domestic partnerships and heterosexual marriages, and more. Seriously, is there anything this woman can't do? Confused about divorce? She's written the handbook. Literally. It's called "Nolo's Essential Guide to Divorce". And that's not it. If you check out her Law Office's website at emilydoskow.com, you'll see that Ms. Doskow is a publishing fool. What's even better than the articles and handbooks, though, in my mind, is her totally readable, relatable blog. No legal jargon here, just plain old professional advice in the form of various anecdotes that feels like it's coming from a friend who really loves her job and can't help but spread her infectious enthusiasm for family law of all kinds.  It's clear that she lives and loves her work on the cutting edge of parenting law.

Emily Doskow has been practicing family law, civil rights, mediation, and related issues for almost 20 years.  In particular, she touts herself as serving the LGBT community. Not only that, she has edited and published on the subjects for Nolo (the do-it-yourself law book series), which I think shows that she isn’t into nickel-and-diming her clients. Plus, she has a blog for Nolo (http://www.divorceandfamilylawblog.com/). It’s informative and entertaining.  It could just be me, but I get a good feeling knowing that my potential lawyer has a sense of humor (not to mention knows a thing or two about the law). She may not be a well-known, big name in the industry, but it appears she’ll be fair, competent and will work hard for her clients, and in the end, isn’t that what everyone is looking for?
