This former USC Trojan Ph.D. student is an influential presence in the Computer Science Department, despite his role as an Adjunct Professor. A Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, B.S. Manjunath is affiliated with the UCSB Multimedia Arts and Technology Program in addition to the Computer Science Department. His research and scholarship have funded several programs on the campus, and Professor Manjunath continues to promote graduate student fellowship programs and dissertation research as a faculty sponsor across fields and disciplines. Many of his past students are employed in the private sector in California, the United States, Germany, and China. His research interests include image/video analysis, multimedia databases and data mining, steganography, and signal/image processing for bio-informatics. He is also the Director of the Center for Bio-image Informatics and Director of the Interactive Digital Multimedia (IGERT program), and both are funded by NSF grants.
