Theodore V. Wells Jr. is a partner and co-chair of the Litigation Department at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. Mr. Wells has extensive litigation experience in white-collar criminal defense, complex civil and corporate litigation, SEC regulatory work and class action litigation. In addition to defending a number of national political figures, Mr. Wells has also represented numerous corporate executives and corporations in jury trials, grand jury investigations and before the SEC. For example, he has defended financier Michael Milken in various criminal and civil securities litigations and financier Michael Steinhardt in the Salomon Brothers Treasury Investigation, as well as hedge fund manager James Regan in a RICO prosecution (RICO was originally designed as a response to organized crime of the Al Capone type). It's such a comfort to know that our white-collar criminals are receiving only the finest legal defense.
However, Mr. Wells has not only defended the wealthy and elite or corporate wrong-doer, lest we think he's motivated solely by monetary concerns. He has also previously served, on a pro bono basis (read: for free), as general counsel to the New Jersey NAACP, as co-chair of the United Negro College Fund, and as general counsel for the New Jersey Democratic Party.
