Students in Carrie Davis and Heather Franks' classes may not be able to pick their favorite type of art, because they are privy to such an array of diverse experiences. As part of their project called "Chassé Your Way Through Storytelling," Davis and Franks took students to both the Milwaukee Art Museum and Ballet, and then encouraged students to write stories that corresponded to both the music and artistic pieces they viewed. Their mash-up of different art forms did not go unnoticed. Their project was named one of Time Warner Cable's National Teacher Award winners, netting the duo a cash grant to be used to encourage other hands-on and interactive learning efforts.
