Lisa Brown, Executive Director of The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) has been chosen by President-elect Barack Obama as the White House Staff Secretary, a post known as the gatekeeper for nearly every piece of paper that reaches the President's desk. Brown has a long history of public service. Before becoming the Executive Director of the ACS, Brown was Counsel to Vice President Gore from September 1999 through January 2001, and Deputy Counsel from April 1997 through August 1999. Brown was an Attorney Advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice from June 1996 until April 1997. She's been very active in pro bono work, focusing on cases that involve disabled people, as well as working on civil rights issues.
