Mr. Michael S. Lurey, a member of the Latham & Watkins law firm since 1970, currently serves as co-chair of the Global Insolvency Practice Group. From 1988 to 1991 he chaired the Finance Department. Regularly representing lenders, creditors' committees, and borrowers, he's an expert in all matters of insolvency, including Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings. This guy basically wrote the book on Chapter 11, having served as counsel to Consolidated Freightways Corporation, NorthPoint Communications Group, Inc., Superior National Insurance Group, and MedPartners Provider Network, to name a few. Mr. Lurey is a frequent lecturer and chair for the Practicing Law Institute, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the California Bankers Association. Published ubiquitously, he also co-authored Matthew Bender's treatise, "Collier Lending Institutions and the Bankruptcy Code." Wasn't that featured on Oprah's Book Club? Bankruptcy and starvation, two things Oprah will probably never know anything about. For an expert, contact Michael S. Lurey.
