In 2008 J.P. Morgan clawed its way back up the European research rankings due in part to the efforts of star analysts like Jaime Vazquez. Jaime covers food & drug chains and was one of six first-place finishers for J.P. Morgan. This was the first time the firm claimed the top spot in the category since 2000 and it was due in part to Jaime’s call to buy Dutch supermarket operator Royal Ahold. Jaime has also been noted for his analyses on UK retailing giant Tesco and French hypermarket chain Carrefour. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2003, Jaime worked as an equity analyst at Cazenove and Salomon Smith Barney. Mr. Vazquez holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid.
