A single assignment would change the course of David Lippman’s career in the early 1980s. At that time Mr. Lippman was a corporate lawyer representing Paine Webber in a real estate transaction. He became so fascinated by the financial side of the transaction that he decided to jump ship to Paine Webber’s corporate finance operations before moving over to the mortgage trading floor. Over twenty years later, and David has no plans of turning back. He currently serves as the CEO of Metropolitan West Asset Management, aka MetWest, a LA-based asset management firm he joined in 2001 as a generalist portfolio manager. He also serves on the firm’s credit and structured products committees, which help determine the firm’s investment strategies. He counts running, traveling and sailing as his favorite pastimes outside of the office.
