The philosophy of R & S Tavares Associates, Inc. is one that I can get behind. Shown on their website is a statement written with conviction and foresight into how the building industry of the United States can (and should) improve. I think it's stated so well that any paraphrasing would be a disservice. The company states:“We firmly believe that the construction industry in the USA has been stagnant, using the same construction techniques for the last 100 years, and that we as a Country can do much better by adopting the technology of Pre-engineered manufacturing construction and alternative, more sustainable construction systems - methods being utilized very efficiently within the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Germany and Japan.”I agree. The building industry has been grappling with the developments in eco-friendly, energy efficient, and overall smarter building techniques and materials and with the onset of the green building trend environmentalism and construction have been at a crossroads in the last several years. This company has only been around since 2002 and was founded by Ralph Tavares and Silvana Tavares. I have to admit that I’m having a blast reviewing this company. The services offered cover the scope of the entire construction process, but what I particularly enjoy is the new-age approach this company undertakes. Projects like their “Relocatable Silo” and Glide House –pictured at left- showcase the results of a new approach to construction these days. Functionality, pragmatism, and environmental concerns take precedence in this company’s vision of construction. Serving as a staff engineer, Jose Amador is probably someone to thank for the eye-catching and creative designs R & S Tavares Associates is becoming known for. He doesn’t have any sort of green building certification, but I’m guessing Amador‘s plans have an eco-friendly element to them …and that’s something I think we all can appreciate.
