Joshua Porter is someone who comes to the technological world with his own unique design philosophy. He believes in making sure the experience belongs to the user, that technology serves humans, that design is not art, that great design is invisible, and simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Clearly this philosophy works for Joshua as he is a well respected interface designer in the United States, but also has been invited to speak internationally on social design issues. He has spoken at dConstruct in England and Webstock in New Zealand. In addition to his speaking engagements, Joshua is the founder of Bokardo Design. Bokardo Design is a design consultancy focusing exclusively on social web applications. So it's Joshua and his company that help others to create the applications like Facebook and Myspace that we use to keep in touch with one another. Joshua may look young, but he is no rookie in the world of technology. He took a class on interface design in 1997 and has been knee-deep in the technological world ever since. He has written a book titled Designing for the Social Web which has been fairly successful, so much so that he is now working on 2nd edition. When Joshua's not at the computer he's a self proclaimed outdoors kind of guy. He likes to rock climb, mountain bike, and run around with his two daughters.
