Eric David Nigg doesn't know exactly what's going on. His last name makes him nervous sometimes, and when he has to explain to someone that Nigg really is his last name, he always looks embarassed or sorry as if it's his fault. One time a local newspaper added an unfortunate letter to the end of his already unfortunate name, and again Eric was sorry. I'm not mad that I grew up with Eric. We went to daycare together, and I'm okay with that now. Not that it has ever bothered me before-- I just want to make it clear that I don't regret growing up next to Eric Nigg. He was a person, and I'm a person. We grew up in the same small community at the same time, and that's perfectly fine. If I could change it, of course I would. There a lot of better places to grow up, and much better people to grow up next to. All the same, Eric was one of the people who was there, and I don't hate him. Sometimes Eric stands up and says a comedy act. There are some people who like when he does that. I don't. I'm in the section of the crowd that doesn't hate it. He talks about birds, and being dumb, and things like that. I'm never sure if people laugh at his actual ideas, or laugh at the idea of him having the ideas. Are they saying with their laughter: "This guy is really funny," or "Is this guy for real? This is one of the worst things I have ever heard. He MUST be trying to be dumb. What's up with his forehead?" I would ask Eric what he thinks about this, but again: he has no idea what is going on. Eric walks around with his eyes open and says things that most of the time do not need to be heard. He gets in the way a lot. If you ask him to move, he does. Sometimes when he moves, though, he moves more in your way. That's when you have to be more specific. Just say, "Eric, please move to your right, left, etc." He'll politely do it. If he doesn't, he's not trying to be rude, he's just thinking of which way right and left are. He will sometimes ask, "Your left or my left? My left is your right, right?" It is best just to point which way you want him to go. But sometimes he'll just look that way and forget what he's doing. Being next to Eric can be pretty frustrating, but he doesn't hurt anyone. That's why I don't hate him. You shouldn't either.
