Who is Viggo Mortensen? You dont know? Of course you do! He played the Knight named Aaragon in Lord Of The Rings. But I wouldnt blame you if you dont remember him in that trilogy...neither did I. I only started to really notice him in Eastern Promises. From then on, I am hooked by this man. He is someone who looks better as he gets older. Now he's 51! OMG! If we had more of men and women who age gracefully hotter, age would just be somewhat irrelevant numbers.
Viggo is certainly not irrelevant. But its astonishing that his acting in The Road was not relavant enough for him to be nominated for the Academy Awards' Best Actor category. He delivered such a moving performance especially when his character was pleading to his wife not to go away. That look in his eyes..the desperation...the love...the pain...the fear. He made you wish he would beg you too with that vigour. He makes you want to have a man like that for the rest of your life. So did his son in the movie about a parent and son's journey to the coast in a futuristic age after the whole planet has been ravaged by war and there were not much food left, which led to some survivors resorting to cannibalism.
If I was put in that position, I might just resort to cannibalism though. Could you really resist it if you saw Viggo bathing at a waterfall as in the movie? Dont you want to play-biting his pert ass at least? Now why is it that this actor has scenes where he shows off his parts below his belly button? Although his mother is American, his father is Danish. So is it his Scandinavian heritage which makes him less paranoid about stripping off? Think about it. Have you ever seen Tom Cruise doing a full-frontal in his movies? Thank God he hasnt. But in the case of Viggo, you would want to see a proper full-frontal.
The fight scene in Eastern Promises made you empathise with Viggo's character. He was naked in the sauna and just then two Russian mafia guys are ordered to try to kill him. While the fight choreography was excellent, you cant help noticing that Viggo was actually rather careful not to let us see his member. There were awkward contortions during the scene which you can help conclude was more about not revealing his penis to full view of the camera than anything else. Do we need to see his penis? No, but making an effort to hide it did distract from the natural flow of the choreography.
But you will appreciate Viggo - if you have not already - not because he is less shy about showing body parts in the movies he plays but because he is really an excellent actor. And you just cant help loving a guy who looks damned sizzling hot in face and body at 51.
