Since Henry Matoza was sixteen he has been immersed in all kinds of construction from foundations to framing, including electrical, finish carpentry and tile masonry. In 1984 Henry got his general contractor license and launched his business in the East Bay, trying to handle everything himself. Soon demand made it necessary to hire some qualified help, also possessing versatile construction aptitude and experience. The company currently employs nine full-time employees and one part-time bookkeeper. Co-owner Penelope Smith came on board in 1998 and keeps everything organized. The team of Matoza Construction builds custom homes, upscale residential remodels, landscape renovations and hardscape installations as well as commercial tenant improvements.
