To label Judge Mablean Ephriam a 'lawyer' is to do the woman a serious disservice; she is also a judge, speaker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and television personality. Most well-known for her 7 years on TV's Divorce Court, Mablean got her start as a corrections office, and then as a trial attorney for two decades. Since retiring from television, she has focused mainly on public speaking and philanthropy. The Mablean Ephriam Foundation works to better poor communities, and is funded by Mablean's financial investments (the woman owns such disparate businesses as limo services and B&Bs both in the U.S. and South Africa). At heart, she is a great person. She just also happens to be a well respected lawyer, judge, entrepreneur and speaker at Churches, civic organizations, and women's conferences.
