The first, the "minimal" missions, would occur between 1976 and 1986 and would use Apollo-level (that is, 1970) technology. The second, the "extended" mission, which was tentatively scheduled to occur in the 1982-1986 time period, would require technologies beyond the Apollo state of the art.
I'm so up for this. Always liked the idea of space travel but was put off by fear of the rockets bursting into flames. Getting an elevator up to a space station seems much more civilized. Hopefully there will be synth music and nice views on the way up.
Wasn't that lift idea in that movie ? errr what's it called... the one where two guys put on special glasses and can see the real world underneath the one we see. ? my memory after a dooby ....tut tut ...it's gone gone ...:)
Thanks, I looked this up because, well Trekkie here and I couldn't believe it. It turns out the drive was conceived in the 1990s in Mexico City. It reconciles with Einstein's field equations and has only gained momentum since. Here is a vid.
Hopefully the warp drive will give us a little bigger (pun not intended) perspective than you guys have. What hope do we have for getting out of the solar system when you think there is a difference between humans on different sides of our little planet?
