Cannabis for arthritis/joint pain
Can you get CBD/THC mix?
Cannabis for arthritis/joint pain
My dad suffers with arthritis and general joint pain. His dr has suggested cannabis oil, amongst a host of other things (turmeric etc.), to try. I’m wondering weather to get some cbd only or a rso type of thing. Any research online is vague because there’s been no real studies done. If any one on here has experience with treating arthritis with either cbd or rso I would love to hear your input, cheers.
Ha they should time stamp these posts. Posted this before Christmas but cheers for your reply. Hooked my dad up with some rso and cbd balm. He highly rates the cbd balm...
Haha brilliant sorry mate I didn't even know this place existed then. Glad you found your dad something to help.
I am searching for something similar for myself. New to this so I am not yet certain which strains will suit me. Out of all the options listed in the comments (thank you guys), which one will also help you get to sleep? I intend to turn it into an edible and take it a few hours before I go to bed. So, a mellow strain without a massive uplifting high but which relaxes, relieves pain and make you sleepy. Thanks
heavy indica would do a body stone where it relaxes your whole body or cbd but you would need thc with cbd for full effects
Hi, I have severe osteoarthritis in both my hips and lumbar spinal stenosis, I can honestly tell you thc works miracles. I’ve been buying the canna chocolate from mj concentrates which is 100mg a bar. I take half of one square in the morning and a full square around 8pm. Since I’ve started doing that I’ve managed to quit taking codeine, pregabalin and naproxen. Occasionally I still may need to take an ibuprofen if I’m really bad. I’m a light tolerance person with weed and the amount I have doesn’t get me wasted but eases my pain considerably.
Hi I can say that cbd oil has helped my mother in law she originally wanted to try it because she has diabetes and wanted to see if it lowered her blood sugar there was no change but she swears it’s helped her with her legs and joints she can walk for longer, walk upstairs a lot easier at work she goes dancing with husband and has recently been tap dancing lol and says cbd has helped her, father in law is also taking it now and says he’s had best sleep he’s also been dancing! I hope you and your dad find something that helps
Sometimes depending on who it is some people need thc with cbd for full effects when it comes to pain relief
Cheers for the reply and glad to hear your MIL is seeing some improvement. In the end got my dad some cbd balm as well as the rso. My dad has yet to try the rso but is raving about the cbd balm, apparently his hands are showing real signs of improvement with it... Kind of hoping he doesn’t want to try the rso and gives it to me ;)
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I use Sativa’s in the day as they make you more active which is important for management of the disease. It can also be a fairly depressing condition to have so they can also be useful treating that. I then use a high THC Indica/Hybrid in the evenings for pain relief. Definitely follow the advice of the other guys about CBD. It works wonders. The Leafly app has a section with the best strains to treat arthritis with. That’s worth a look as well.
Cheers for the info. Leafly is a great site always refer to it before buying on here. I’m going to cover my bases with rso and a cbd balm. That’s the old boys Christmas present sorted! Also loving the community spirit of this site, thank you to everyone who replied.
Hi Jonny if it helps at all I have psoriatic arthritis in my hands and back I find the midrange pollen (polm) works well for me. Few other people I know with rheumatoid arthritis prefer the strong medical weed. I'm finding a sativa/indicia base polm/resin for day smoking and a indicia dominant weed with indicia polm at night helps with the pain and sleep. Research atm is saying CBD alone isn't effective enough for arthritis sufferers and needs to be combined with thc over 3% for it to effectively combine to the Cb1 and cb2 receptors. If your dad's new to cannibis I'd suggest starting out with a mild/low thc to high cbd ratio and see how it goes. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your input mate. I’m pretty sure my old man will be against smoking weed so I’m thinking an indica rso. I’ve seen a few vendors selling so probably best to get in touch with them. Have you tried oils or other edibles? Again appreciate the info.
Hi sorry to bother you on a Friday night but I just came across this bit of info and thought it might be useful for you too. Haven't checked to see if any venders stock these but I'm sure one will at some point.
Ah very interesting. Wish the science was more conclusive but I’ve got him some cbd balm (from love cbd) and he’s interested in the rso as well. Thanks for digging up that info. ?
