Best albums to listen to while stoned/tripping?
From personal experience, Lateralus by TOOL is quite something while on a heroic dose of magic mushrooms 😂

Well back in the day it had to be early Floyd, but then I'm talking about the end of the 60s, early 70s so you youngsters won't relate to that! Also remember putting on Ziggy Stardust for the first time. We'd only had a mono record player previously but my dad got a bonus from work and went to Laskys and bought separates. Was definitely an Armstrong amp, maybe a Garrard turntable, can't remember the speakers but they were huge. I put Ziggy on, cranked up the volume and fuck me, it was like the band was in the room. Those opening drum beats have stayed with me till this day.

Garrard made a comeback, or maybe a rebirth, about a decade or so ago, I think? Excellent choices, and look what I recommended as this 'youngster' has seen Floyd live. One of my biggest regrets was never seeing Bowie live, but thankfully I did see Prince.

Never saw Floyd live but did see Bowie at Earl's Court May 1973. The gig was a shambles. The stage was too low, the PA was too weak, but I was one of the lucky ones that was in the upper circle to the side of the stage so I could hear and see. One of the greatest gigs of my life.

Seen Tool live twice, and once in Ozzfest in Donnington they were so loud that you couldn't hear the jet that was overhead on a flightpath to land. Insane band.

My choices would be, with very limited thinking time, so there are no doubt dozens more:

Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (probably best not to listen to this whilst tripping...)

Roky Erickson - The Evil One

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works '85-'92

Orbital - Both 'Yellow' and 'Brown' albums (I think they may officially be Orbital I and Orbital II)

Love - Forever Changes

I was lucky enough to see Love play live not long before Arthur Lee died of cancer, and it sounded EXACTLY like the album, despite being 35+ years later, with different band members. I used Shazam as I thought they were using backing tracks at least, and it couldn't identify anything. Amazing performance.
