It seems our institutions are predicated on master and servant and the masters have the power to keep things that way.

On the positive side we have always had paths for the truly exceptional servants to become masters. This gives us just enough dynamism to keep senility at bay.

Eudcation is key and by keeping a two-tier education system in place the ruling class makes sure the rest of us are kept on the sidelines.
