They came to me in 2002 via a friend, from someone with 'a collection' they needed to move on. It felt like a rescue. Two Lophophora williamsii, covered in dried pink fruits, full of seed. I didn't know what I was getting until I got them. They looked a little worse-for-wear and I'm still not sure of their age.

Since then, they've been on the various windowsills of my life - undemanding but steady companions. Every spring, as the weather cheers up, they flower. Not once, but repeatedly, prolifically. A flower pushes out and shows off for a few days, performing for the sunshine - pale pink petals spread wide, yellow stamens at the centre. And another comes, and another, or two or three flowers simultaneously. While it's warm and bright they keep going - they can't help themselves.

Fruits follow each flower. Bright pink, protruding, reaching out from the woolly centre like fat little worms - the fruit that time forgot. I started cross-pollinating between the two parents with a small brush - moving pollen from one to the other when they flowered at the same time, trying to get some genetic diversity going. More fertilised flowers means more fruit, more seed. I've collected so much seed over the years.

Eight years ago I finally tried to germinate a proper batch. Seventy to a hundred seeds, sown in a flat tray of finely sieved, wetted soil. Thin layer of soil on top, cling film over the whole thing to keep the moisture in. Over the following weeks and months they sprouted - at different rates, different sizes, some sturdy domes, some barely there, little specks. Any of them could wither and fail at any point, and plenty did. The survivors stayed in that first tray for three years, too fragile to transplant, too delicate to disturb. Eventually they needed space, and the strongest got picked out for new homes - fresh cactus-specific soil, but still in groups to fill even a small pot. Another thinning happened then: some didn't like the move, withered or rotted, became detritus. Eventually the survivors were big enough for their own pots. By that point they're stable; less likely to be lost.

They started flowering for the first time last summer - their puberty, as it were. The flowers come straight from the very centre of the plant at first, no wool, nothing - just a bud pushing through. The wool builds up gradually as more flowers come and go over the seasons, a record of all the times they've done this before. Right now several of them are carrying fruit from last year's flowers, and more flowers are ready to burst forth. They are already working on the next generation.

Some of them might be ready to find new homes. They're nearly eight years old, around 4cm, actively flowering and fruiting, each one a direct descendant of plants that have been doing this reliably since before I had them. The parents aren't going anywhere, and neither are most of the gang. But a few singles - or pairs, for anyone thinking about starting a colony and wanting two plants to cross-pollinate - might suit the right person. Afternoon all. I’ve bought 5 or 6 different hashes from various vendors, but I’m not seeing the usual oil ring form when smoking? Is it just poor quality hash or something else? Anyone else notice the same? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Last week was a shit one for me with this site, all round, and it seems to be following me into this one.

Ordered twice from two sellers. Once last Monday with RM24, the other on Friday with NDD when the first didn't show up because at that point I'd run out of bud.

Like, bruv. I got excited when I saw a fraction of a nug next to my side table at home a few days ago. It was probably .2g, .3g if I'm being optimistic (or delusional, take your pick). I hadn't gotten that excited over weed I found on the floor since I was 17, working part time on u18 minimum wage.

I don't come on here a whole lot now I have a prescription, but the whole of last week I was seriously regretting not keeping in contact with street sellers over the last few years. The quality of anything I get here would be way better, but at this point I'd settle for just getting something. It's hard not to take the lesson from this as being not to rely too hard on any one place and it's not even the vendor's fault.

Ik for one vendor it's mass issues, but is this a thing happening more often with Royal Mail in general, or am I particularly unlucky this week?

Would be really grateful if any vendors could chime in, I spent a good half hour last night scrolling the items to find a hash I would order and couldn't find anything

looking for a proper clean drytech or something that actually tastes and smokes like hash with a budget of around $80-90 for 7g's? I usually order from TGS but he hasn't had UK stock for a while and i'm looking for anything to match that quality (not easy)

not interested in any mousse or comms unless you can absolutely 100% attest to the comms being legit hash which nowadays is quite unlikely, most of the mousse and comms now isn't fit for human consumption and there's heaps of it about

I remember 2022 there was only 3-4 vendors that stocked hash and it was banging, even comms that was $30 for 3.5 was mega clean, terpy, huge oil ring on a joint, bellowing thick blue smoke from the joint, I haven't seen stuff like this since then, not once, all the cheap stuff now is so dead and I find a lot of the "triple filter" etc on here isn't really a lot better
