Biggy Index, now open source
Hey Biggaz, It's been awhile since I've checked in.
Just giving a small update on the Biggy Index.
It's been online for just over a year now and hopefully has helped some people out.
Recently the site was made open source, which some may have noticed already:

You can browse all the Next.js project files on Github and see how everything works under the bonnet if that sort of thing interests you.
I've slowly been adding features to the site, but have been low on ideas lately but have time to work on it.
So if you have any cool ideas for features or quality of life stuff, or any other feedback go ahead and share and I'll see what I can do.

Some food for thought - warnings for inactive vendors
I try to do my due diligence and make sure whomever I buy from has good recent feedback. But you can't really see that from the index as you skip the vendors main page and their sales/interactions/complaints. Some I'd actively avoid after seeing their walls 🫣
But that'd be super hard to capture.
What about starting off with warnings for vendors not online within the last week? Or similarly warnings for vendors hitting a surplus of negative reviews? It'd avoid making purchases I regretted

Definitely a useful tool! It’s very difficult to search for products directly on LittleBiggy so before discovering this I was just scrolling down the big long list on here and buying things that way and ended up missing better options in some cases.

If you click onto a product category from the main screen (e.g. flower) rather than clicking the “browse marketplace” button you don’t get the filter options, which kind of defeats the point of the site.
If you then press the back button in the browser or click the logo top left to return to the main screen to select “browse marketplace”, then it doesn’t load correctly and just gives you a blank screen. You have to refresh the page to get it to work again.
Not a big issue but figured I’d flag it if you’re looking for things to work on!

It’s open source. You can work on it. Feed the repo into Claude Code and ask it to fix it for you.
Break it. Fuck with it. Make it better yourself. That’s kind of the point of open source. AI makes it all way easier. Removes the barrier to entry.
Add a Pull Request when you’ve finished messing about. Job done.

I run biggysearch.net, a different index of the same wall, so take this as one builder to another rather than a feature request.
The up to date stock levels ask in this thread is the one I would warn you about before you build it. LB's items wall feed does not always return the whole wall, and it does not tell you when it has not.
I have 1,317 syncs of that feed logged since 7 August. Most days the item count sits within a few of that day's median. Two days did not. On 16 September most reads came back between 801 and 816 items, and on 18 September between 803 and 810, while the true number both days was about 940. Every one of those came back as a normal 200 with no error on it.
That matters because the obvious way to spot a delisting is "it was there yesterday and it is not in this feed". On those two days that rule quietly killed about 140 live listings at once, then resurrected them when the feed recovered. Mine did exactly that before I caught it, and it also poisoned my own history, so anything I had built on what went out of stock was partly fiction.
What fixed it, in case it saves you the same week: treat any feed that comes back under about 95 percent of a rolling median of recent feeds as incomplete rather than authoritative. Trust the listings it does contain, conclude nothing from the ones it does not. Then require a listing to be absent from three consecutive complete feeds before calling it gone. A real delisting still lands within the hour, and a bad feed stops meaning anything.
Same trap applies to any per seller count. A seller who looks like they pulled their whole catalogue overnight is usually a short feed rather than an exit. I had one of those on my screen last week and very nearly said so out loud, which would have been embarrassing and wrong.
Good work on the site, and on opening it up.

The “select all” option on the sellers filter is a good shout!
There’s a couple of sellers I don’t want to buy from that also happen to have large numbers of products that fill up the results.
I filtered them out the other day whilst doing a search but it takes a long time to go through the list and tick every single one apart from them. Would be much quicker and easier with a “select all” option then could just remove the 2 I don’t want including.

It’s a certain “nutty” vendor for me and another one who is accused of drop shipping that same vendor. Kind of links in to one of the other replies on here about “bad sellers” and whether Biggy Index could somehow identify them - probably would be some AI way of detecting negative sentiment in posts on their wall (buyers complaining about delays, lack of replies to messages, different products being shipped, etc).
Will see what I can do with the sellers filter.
And for sellers not showing up, if they're not on the wall there's no way to automate discovering them.
But perhaps I could have a form on the site that would let people submit a seller name/ID. Then their individual pages could be crawled and added to the index with a disclaimer or something.
Maybe you could send a chat with a few names? I'll use that to test it out.

This could be interesting - there are a couple of sellers I’ve bought from that don’t show on the wall, but also some suspect ones where it’s potentially a good thing they don’t show.
