Old News - I Quit Smoking
Since quitting smoking I've been on a bit of a voyage of discovery. It's fair to say there will be very few people, even in a place like LB, who utterly love smoking a perfectly reverse-rolled spliff as much as I used to. Although, in this crowd, to be fair, there will be some. I wrote a homage to the humble joint a while ago which will be on my page somewhere lower down I guess. I definitely miss it.
Old Lungs - Hence Quitting
However, I'm an old fella and I was still mixing my weed with American Spirit tobacco which was not doing my lungs any favours. I'd smoked since I was a teenager and my lungs were finally saying, Bigroo (for that is my name), Bigroo, we are not happy. Then I got covid. Smoking was off the table for a while and so I decided to stick with it to see how far I'd get - and if it'd make me feel any better. That was a year ago.
Spending Less
I know how much I used to spend on weed and associated products compared to now. I'm spending less than a third of what I did during my heavy smoking days. Bad news for my favourite vendors but good news for my bank account. I'm still getting stoned every day but my sessions don't tend to start as early.
Dab 'n' Vape
These days I mostly mix dabbing extracts through a rig with vaping bud through my Arizer. The dabs give me the big hit I crave and chugging on the vape provides the chill.
Since I've been at this a while I've noticed that although I'm spending a less eye-watering amount of money on cannabis products, I'm still pretty happily stoned each evening just like previously. It took a while to find my new balance but ultimately I'm still in my happily stoned place.

Anyway, this has led me to the question that titles this topic - what is the cheapest way to get stoned?
Blazing On a Budget
I note on LB that there are a lot of people buying cheap hash or shake. And I figure that means that there's an awful lot of people here who are just trying to get blitzed on a budget.
Shake It Shake It Baby
An ounce of shake goes for every price between about 50 bucks to over 120 depending on quality and seller.
For example, a highly rated shake from the fairly new vendor Rambo is usually 63 bucks an oz although there's a 50 dollar promo on currently. Allegedly it's famous.

Radar Breeder have a Silver shake at 61 bucks for an oz. It's not allegedly famous and there's no current promo but RB are a solidly reliable vendor with lots of fans.

Lazy Daze have a higher-end shake at a higher price for 125 bucks an Oz. I've had bud from LD before which was lovely so it's easy to imagine the shake would be decent quality also.

Is This Better Value Than Dabbing Concentrates?
I'm currently buying live resin from Myconauts. It's 67 bucks for 3.5g although they've got various bargain extracts at different prices.

I feel that's very good value and generally the extracts there are flavourful, strong and clean. 3.5g of live resin lasts me ages - at least a month - as you use so little per hit. I treated myself to some hash rosin this month too which is lovely stuff but probably has no place in a discussion about getting stoned on a budget. Although it was less costly than many vendors sell it for.
It's Important To Have Plenty of Greens
I'll also pick up some bud from either Green Cat or The Wizard of Oz to vape through my Arizer.
However most of my stonedness now comes from extracts and I just use the DHV as a top up to chill out with. I really like the sudden rapid stone from dabbing and my rig hits much harder than my little electric dab pen device ever did.
Equipment Outlay
Arguably my bong conversion rig cost me around £100. I've also broken a fancy quartz banger which is a pricy error to make. My Arizer dry herb vape was about £130 (I think from memory). So that'd be a hefty outlay for someone restricted by budget.
I appreciate it's backwards to argue that you can save money by spunking well over 200 of your quids in one go but once you've bought the equipment it should last quite a while. Well, unless you break it!
Cheaper Options
You can of course get a cheaper dab setup. That's where I started but I must admit a fancy full weld banger with a bevel top is much better than my previous cheapy. I use a spinner carb cap and terp pearls too which I feel radically improves the dab experience.
You can also get a cheaper dry herb vape but again my current Arizer Solo 2 works much better than my starter x-max vape did - not least on battery life.
Ultimately you can buy both bits of equipment for less than I've spent here. Equally you can spend much more if you're a Mr Fancypants.
Alcoholic
I'm also using a lot of isopropyl for cleaning glassware every day so I probably go through more alcohol than a rock band - although I smash up less hotel rooms.
What About Edibles?
I've not even mentioned edibles or buying RSO which is definitely a cost effective way to get totally spangled and end up pacing around outside hoping it'll wear off soon. I still keep a stock of D9 & RSO in my fridge in case I want to get fully - and often regrettably - blasted.

So what do you think is the cheapest way to get stoned? What's your best wallet friendly tips? There's definitely a lot of people on a budget here as the highest performing products tend to be the bargains. Is it really cheaper to smoke shake than dab extracts? How long does an oz last?
