Budget dry herb vape advice please.
Thanks to all who posted on my last topic and being so kind in posting lots of useful advice.

Especially those that lead me down the rabbit hole of dry herb vaporizers. So after doing a bit of researching I'm certainly in the market for getting myself a nice little model for around £100. The XMAX V3 Pro is looking strong but I would like any thoughts from the lb community if there's something else I should be considering perhaps.

Burn on demand looks like a feature I would need along with portability. Not really sure about needing to heat manually so a battery model sound more for me.

Any thoughts or advice on a chilled Sunday morning before I buy anything would be gratefully received.

Tempest 2 Slim with YLL 3.0 induction heater is over your budget but… This would be my choice if your budget could stretch, bear in mind you need batteries for the heater and a charger for them.

Some good suggestions this thread,
I've heard good things about the Arizer Air SE Vaporizer too, pretty cheap at around £70 - £80.
One thing you want to get right with any DHV is the grind consistency & how tight you pack the oven, I use a S&B Venty and it works best with a medium grind & not tightly packed into the oven, in fact, I don't pack it down at all, temps are also important, I like to temp-step mine, starting at 180C for those terpy, flavoursome hits, once the amount of vapor reduces, I crank it up to 195C and then finish on 210C (max temp), you'll notice the difference at all temps.

Thanks MedicineMan

Just looking at that Arizer Se now and only just starting to think about density, temps and oven size

whatever you decide to buy, just remember that you'll use probably half the amount of cannabis that you did when smoking, so a good vape will pay for itself eventually.
0.2g vape leaves me more satisfied than a 0.5g joint.
It's an investment, so get a decent one.

I personally wasn't a fan of the arizer vapes. The heating and portability was fine, but the size of the chamber really pissed me off. Too small to pack a punch and I'd need to refill it at least once per session to get a sufficient hit

Good to see you're on the right path bud. DHV will 100% make you appreciate your purchases tenfold.

There's 2 directions you can go down - battery and heat powered. Heat powered is more reliable as it's mechanical and the battery won't die on you. That being said, with high end devices (ie from S&B) it's rare for it to go wrong. But if it does it's an expensive replacement

I'll stop waffling and move onto the actual recommendations;

Battery powered:
Anything Storz & Bickel. They do volcanos (desktop plugged into the wall) which is fucking awesome and packs a punch. Fantastic replacement to bongs. Not portable tho

They also do handheld models (veazy, venty, etc) but they are above your price range. Great portability for these

Heat powered:
Dynavap. I've recently discovered this rabbit hole and can't go back now. It's essentially a pipe that you heat at the end to vaporize (flower OR HASH, both work). My new favourite device. Much cheaper at 70 quid for the base model but tbh it's only worth it with some add-ons (armored cap and an induction heater). Brilliant for portability and for me has the best extraction

Combination:
Ball vaporizers. Essentially a heating element to vaporize flower or hash on any bong that you may already own. Versatile, reliable and super tasty. Probably top choice if you wanted to splash and didn't care about portability. There may be new portable ones now but they do require a bong which obviously isn't

You can find most of these second hand on places like Facebook marketplace and honestly most of the time they're a bargain in great condition from people looking to upgrade

Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions 😁

Ty Lechuga and I think it was your post that ignited the spark btw :-)

Seen the Dynavap types and that's the only real competition to the Xmax or equivalent for me. I do smoke at home but really want a replacement for when I'm out and about (and for home too).

Currently pre-rolling a few before setting off on my wanderings but do need a better way to enjoy the day. I would normally take 2 or 3 one skin smokes on my travels and then make a few more back at base before going out again. These portable vapes are going to be a game changer.

Thoughts on the Pro V3?

Update: Diving into the Dynavap range rn.

I'd push for the dynavap with some additions if you're willing to splash out:
Dynavap M7
Armored cap
Ispire wand (or any other induction heater that's compatible)

This will be closer to £150-200 but has insane extraction, works for weed AND HASH, and is portable. Any other high end device will probably run you down the same price tbh

Haven't tried it personally but I think it's considered more "budget" - I only managed to successfully make the switch after going high end as that was the only thing that hit similar to my usual bong routine at the time

Ah I see and thanks for your input. Looking forward to making the switch myself now too.

Currently reviewing what's on FB marketplace as we speak...

Without looking people will say/agree trying to find budget is a road to owning 10 vapes
Good luck
Buy an Xmax pro and see how it grabs you
Then decide between a S&B or a Tinymight 2
That's possibly the most common route for people
You might be a dynavap user?
Also consider where and when your using it
Perhaps a desktop will be better if you're always home
Will you need to recharge
Having replaceable battery's might be better or carry a power bank for less instant recharge
How much will you clean it realistically people will leave there's for days
Is there lots of parts to clean and can this be replaced with a another option for easy cleaning or can you buy a second set for rotation to keep the vape vaping

V3 was my first dhv although the v4 is out now it's on vapefiend.co.uk for £99 I think the code 420 still works for £10 off.

If you give yourself a few days to get used to the flavour you will never go back to combustion but you will spend a fortune on various vapes and attachments.

Ty and see what you mean about attachments.
