I’ve been a fairly long time customer of Psychonauts and thought it might be helpful for others interested in trying their products to read about some personal experiences.

For some background I have high functioning autism which means generally I cope well in society but I do have some difficulties with empathy, reading other people’s emotions and forming bonds with other people. As there is no prescribed medication for autism I just had to cope as best as I could but this lead to some severe burnout and also depression.

Unrelated to this I had a burgeoning interest in psychedelics through reading works such as Aldous Huxley’s Doors Of Perception and Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. Also I would recommend the excellent documentary ‘The Sunshine Makers’.

I eventually found the Psychonauts on LB and decided to give their ‘Leisure Time’ a try. The first experience was subtle but also life changing, the visual effect was what stood out the most and suddenly the world seemed a much more beautiful and interesting place. I took it gently as it was my first time but was keen to go deeper. The following day I tried again and had a much less intense experience - the first important lessen for me was that my tolerance builds incredibly quickly, there’s no point trying to trip two days in a row. It was quite saddening, I felt like I had been shown something beautiful only to have it snatched away immediately.

Thankfully after taking a week off and trying again my body had reset and I was back in the beautiful world that Lucy reveals. This time just wandering around and seeing other people go about their business I felt a deep joy in witnessing the connection between others, and it felt like this was missing from my life and I wanted to seek it out for myself. This was an unexpected lesson as for 30 years I had thought I was quite content as somebody who functioned on their own.

I eventually moved on to trying the Deep Dive, and I soon found out how appropriate that name is! This was intense, I completely shut down and went on an internal journey that was initially quite difficult. I felt like I was the only conscious presence in the world and the few relationships I had were just a figment of my imagination, these people had never existed. I finally knew what it meant to be completely alone, and it was scary. I came out of this trip with the realisation of how important other people are to me, and that I was not content living life as an island even if I had told myself this was the case.

So for me, whilst the trips themselves can be very pleasurable, music sounds incredible, nature looks beautiful, it is the lessons that you take away and practice in your daily life that reap the most benefits. After a few years of using Lucy my relationships with other people are so much better, and consequently I am much happier. Long gone are the periods of depression that I used to suffer. I also feel a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the world, it feels like I’m seeing everything with fresh eyes like a child.

Massive shout it and thanks to the Psychonauts, they were always helpful in offering guidance as I started on this journey. They offer impeccable service as well, fast, discreet and willing to address any concerns.

I’m incredibly grateful that something I started initially for recreation actually taught me some of the most important life lessons.

We felt called to share a few reflections with you for those who have walked this path for many years, and those who are just beginning to walk beside us. The path of healing, of remembering, of becoming whole.

As the world continues to move through the turbulence of its own making, many hearts are searching for relief. For meaning. For healing. It’s no surprise that interest in psychs has grown so rapidly, so much so that medicines once prepared with reverence are now being produced on an industrial scale. Nearly every day, we are asked what dosage will lead to an “ego death” experience.

And while it’s true that psych medicines have changed countless lives for the better, we have also witnessed many people come away confused, ungrounded, or feeling no closer to healing than when they began. The reason is not mysterious, it lies in how these experiences are approached and how they are integrated.

Having personally experienced ego death, and having held space for others moving through it, we do not believe it is a journey meant to be taken lightly or alone. These experiences can be profoundly healing and illuminating, but they can also be destabilizing without proper support. This is especially true with medicines such as dimitry. Many feel called toward the dissolution it offers, yet are not fully prepared to understand or navigate the realities it opens. Please hear us clearly: we are not here to discourage exploration. We believe there are no wrong paths. Every soul learns in its own way. Deep, lasting peace comes from sustained continuous commitment, to the mind, the body, and the spirit.

There is little value in chasing ego death if there is no grounding practice to support it. Healing is not a single event, it is the path itself. It is the lifelong devotion to knowing yourself, caring for your body, and learning to meet life as it is, without blame or judgment. That quiet acceptance…that is where true ego dissolution begins.

If one emerges from an ego death experience still holding others responsible for their suffering, we gently question whether the ego has truly loosened its grip. The oldest teachings remind us that all things arise from the same source. Light and shadow, good and evil, are not separate, they are expressions of one whole.

We remember our own most powerful ego death clearly. It took years to integrate what was revealed. The medicine showed us everything…our fear and our love, our darkness and our compassion, and then, with great simplicity, reminded us: of course they all belong together. We are one. Those who love and those who hurt….same source if looked deeply enough.

So yes, we encourage respectful journeys with these medicines. we believe slow, intentional steps often lead farther than dramatic leaps. i started with a couple little puffs each night before bed for a while, tiny little puffs, no effect really.
i then would take bigger puffs, and this is the important part >

i would do it while chilling with some smoke getting stoned, i would take a decent puff from vape and just forget about it, like i had never done so. zero expectations, i was wanting to feel the effects arise in the most natural way, i was wanting to let the vape take over and lead me somewheres, somewhere i had no expectation of, i had no preconceptions, i kinda tricked myself into forgetting i was puffing from the vape as well as toking.
the spirit molecule has many many effects, and its very very personal, it will remember anniversaries and reward you.
its actually best looking at it as a living molecule, one that has a spirit, thats why its best getting to know it slow.

after a while and after 2 vapes i got comfortable with it, i decided to go for a breakthrough as i had only a little left in vape and it was a case of now or never.
its incredibly relaxing, i was chilled as all hells fire when i broke through and was right up for it, both myself and the spirit molecule were friends at that point.
