Is this a liberty cap? Google images thinks so but I prefer real help ๐คฃ
Picked about 10 mins ago but shrivelled a bit already.
Picked about 10 mins ago but shrivelled a bit already.
It could be one of the UK Paneolus species, some contain psylocybin but I wouldn't risk it unless you are 100% able to identify the specie.
You're better off looking for liberty caps or wavy caps (the wavy caps will be easy to identify as they should stain blue if bruised).
Best advice I can give you is to seek a copy of Stamet's book "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World: An Identification Guide".
Stay Safe

Book readers in here? Recommendations?
Any book readers in here?
Baked last weekend with time to kill, decided to top it off by popping an edible or two and started re-reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Well... Suffice to say that I'm still thinking about it.
Metro 2033 was an interesting read while stoned, as was World War Z, I am legend, The Road, and the brilliant Children Of Men.
I will say, though, that reading Rosemary's Baby high left a very strange feeling in my heart. Like I truly have no idea what's happening just next door from me.
Y'all got any recommendations? Reading Lord of The Rings currently, then have a few philosophy & history books lined up.

i can't read books high as the words don't go in, and i find it amazing that anyone can!
but here are a couple of recommendations:
- mason & dixon, by thomas pynchon. possibly my favourite novel, and i recently finished a fourth or fifth reading of it.
- ways of being, by james bridle. fascinating book about AI, climate change, computing, and how we humans relate to (or fail to relate to) the non-human world.

oh good tip! and nice to know i'm not the only one who can't read when high.
i'm kinda resistant to audio books for some reason (i think podcasts fill that gap for me).
any favourite audiobook recommendations?

oh yeah I'm the same - can't really enjoy books stoned! Audio books are a good idea :)
Thomas Pynchon is such a good writer. My personal favourite is Gravity's Rainbow. Pretty sure that he would write a lot of his work completely high to help him get into the characters' heads...and then edit it sober. Which isn't a bad process. It's probably how he came up with a guy who's have sex when a missile falls, so they use his erection as an early warning system ;). Also a long, phantasmagorical trip down a toilet.

Aye, I really enjoyed the Unhappy Medium by TJ Brown, hilarious and Redshirts by John Scalzi is fun

Wow - I can't believe I've never read Sherlock Holmes?! Sounds like an obvious thing... Need to add it to the list!
Seriously they are great and once you read them you understand why the name and stories havenโt disappeared enjoy !!!
Joe Abercrombie is my current favourite author. Kind of grim fantasy.
He builds characters so well you feel like you know them. Start with the First Law trilogy or The Heroes if you just want to dip your toe in.
If you prefer audiobooks the narrator who reads for him, Steven Pacey, is awesome. I didn't like audiobooks at all before listening to him

Been reading "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking",
Really interesting when you want to get into philosophy.

Hi there, I fulfilled a life goal (sadly it took a spine injury which is why I smoke so much lol) by collecting and reading every single Terry Pratchett book, namely the Discworld series, in order ofc lol. Described Like Lord of the Rings, but with comedy.
The early few books he's still finding his feet in the world he creates imo but soon it becomes a wonderfully weaved web of hilarity and a comparison of the real world and his own.
Theres also something for everyone, i personally like the "Guards" series following the careers of the officers there.
So many but a random quote without even checking.
"It's impossible to get through the day without committing some kind of crime, unless of course you stand all day in a dark basement.
But even then, you're probalbly guilty of loitering"
Theres a Wizards side, a Witches side, Trolls who get more intelligent the colder they get and DEATH, who really likes curry, and has a daughter.
I discovered this series over 20 years ago and now, read them all several times, have a peruse, theres something for everyone and all 40 odd books can be read individually or in sections

Bram stokers dracula , Dune by frank herbert ,anything by philip k Dick .. Gileads blood by Dan abnett.
If you like fantasy that doesn't take itself too seriously, anything by Joe Abercrombie. I've just finished his latest ' The Devils' and blew through it in a week, it's fantastic.
A couple of books I've really enjoyed reading while stoned are,
Jerusalem by Alan Moore.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
Jerusalem in particular opened doors to other realms, time, the Universe and our place within it that have never closed.

Anything Jeff Noon. Start with Vurt though. Falling Out Of Cars is my favourite by him.
Thoroughly depressing dystopian shit, all set in a future Manchester.
Itโs great. If you havenโt read Jeff. Read him immediately. Itโs so bleak it totally cheers you up.
Automated Alice.
He rewrote Alice In Wonderland the minute it was out of copyright. Set it in Manchester. In the future. Published that shit.
You have to read Vurt and Pollen first, or itโs just nonsense. ๐คฃ
Aldous Huxley.
Olโ Bull Lee, Hunter S.
Foucault
Olโ Palahniuk
Carl Sagan
Trainspotting. Irvine Welsh. Itโs kinda Nirvana the band, in book form.
The Bridge. Ian Banks. Wasp Factory if you havenโt read it. Espedair Street is a great book also.
Lanark. Alasdair Grey.
Only Forward/Spares. Michael Marshall Smith.
Underrated books, that guy writes, if you like fun books to read.
Keats. Yeats. Byron. Pinter. Meadows. Morrissey. Mark E Smith. Linton Kwesi Johnson. The poetry of people like Mike Skinner and the master, John Cooper Clarke.
Dickens
HP Lovecraft.
John Lydon.
Kevin Shields.
Not books. Sorry.
Illuminatus!, Cosmic Trigger. Robert Anton Wilson. Carlos Casteneda. Because sometimes you want the bollocks to be true. Bit of Church of The Subgenius. Our captain and saviour. Roberto Dobbs.
Terence McKenna. Food of The Gods.
Thatโs a book.
Desmond Morris. Errol Morris
Alesdair Crowley. And yes. Jimmy Page did buy his Scottish retreat.
Look into that one. Itโs a deep, interesting rabbit hole.
Allen Ginsberg, Tom Wolfe, Jack (Daniels) Kerouac.
Anais Nin
Henry Miller.
Sexytime.
Bill Gibson. Alan Moore. Alan Martin. Bill Drummond.
Iโve given you enough to be getting on with. I wish I could be reading all of that shit for the first time.
Donโt read any of these books or authors. They are a big part of why Iโm so dysfunctional.
They do all cut through the bullshit kinda nicely. If you are open to it.

A few of my absolute favourites:
A Confederacy of Dunces - by John Kennedy Toole
Darkness at Noon - by Arthur Koestler
Stoner - by John Edward Williams
(haha not our kind, it's the character's name)
Blood Meridian - by Cormac McCarthy
The Master and Margarita - by Mikhail Bulgakov
All of these books have become important parts of me ever since I read them :)
For non fiction:
Neurosis and Human Growth - by Karen Horney
^ this helped me out in a tough time! Really interesting re human psychology.

nice to see a pynchon fan!

It has been a while since I have been able to sit and enjoy a book. Please send me the motivation to do so
I can't read while high, and can't read while drunk. Just don't remember the next day what I've read. I've read LOTR so many times I pretty much know it by heart. Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac are obvious choices. You have Cormac McCarthy in there. Blood Meridian will fry your brain as will any of his earliest books. Then read the Border Trilogy. Anything by WG Sebald is a trip. Journey to the End of the Night by Celine. And if you truly want to go down the dark route read HP Lovecraft.
I simply love Papillon.
Its a brilliant read and a rip snorting adventure.
The old man of the sea is another great read. Firm favourite.
Moby Dick and the white whale is sooo worth it. Its a huge undertaking but when approached in the right atate of mind its a hugely rewarding read. Brilliant travel or sickness/recovery companion.
Shantaram has deservedly popped up on this topic quite a few times. Good read. Especially if you are wary of dogs......
Enjoy all

Might be a bit late to the thread but ragdoll by daniel cole is a book i wish i could read for the first time again, crime drama/detective fic, highly recommend. They turned it into a tv series too, which i havent seen yet so cant say if its as good as the book.
Real life stuff i just got done reading the rodchenkov affair, which was a very interesting read although i suppose a bit of a niche topic ๐

I've gone through loads of the SF Masterworks and I'd say the majority of them are really good.

Obviously it helps if you like your scifi.
Someone else I came across recently on reddit is Exurb1a; The Fifth Science
https://amzn.eu/d/cTb8lPV
Highly recommend, it's a collection of short stories that do sort of tie into one another. I loved it

Zoroastrianism" is interesting! Originates back over 3,500 years ago! I need to look into this! The last religion in Egypt when Cleopatra was alive was the "Worship of Isis" which was was over 4000 years ago, yet Hinduism is 4500 years old, crazy!
Please check out Rudolf Stiener "Atlantis and Lumeria" you will love that!

If your up for a mind blowing allegedly true story that is amazing try getting your hands on a copy of "The Vertical Plane" its an account of the Dodderton (that might not be spelt correctly) messages. I don't wanna spoil the plot for you or any potential readers so I'll leave it at that, anyone wanting to do there own research pre reading is welcome. Just learning about the incident is very interesting.

GUESS THE WEATHER WIN 28G
Hi Dudes
The store is slowly growing and I couldn't be happier. Super Grateful for everybody! I'm blessed to announce the Buddha's first competition.
The closest estimate the hottest temperature recorded in London on Sunday 31st will win an ounce.
For example temperatures reached 29.8C last Sunday, so the winner would have been the closest to this number.
If multiple people guess the same number and they win, the ounce will be split accordingly. Entries will finish at 13:00 on Saturday 30th.
I hope this makes sense lol
Good Luck & Stay Blessed
Results will be determined from the data uploaded on
https://www.meteocentre.co.uk/historical-weather/london

What film terrified you as a child? ๐ฑ
For me, it was "Candyman". The voice, that hook - nope!!
Thankfully, the only Candymen I deal with these days are my bakers - and they're much sweeter ๐ญ
Speaking of which, we've just launched our VARIETY PACK: over $100 worth of goodies for just $49.99! We have limited stock - once they're gone, they're gone.
So tell me, what movie scared the life out of you as a kid? ๐ฑ๐จ๐ซข

I canโt remember the name but it was just millions of spiders flooding out of buildings
I use to hide under my sheets and think if I looked out my room would just be full of them
I now see spiders as pretty cool guys just stay away from me simple

Arachnophobia! Them spiders coming out of plug sockets still has me checking to this day!

Candyman is a good one!
BBC's Ghostwatch stands out for me
There was also a movie that a babysitter put on when I was quite young, no idea what it was called, but I remember a scene where a person was in the bathroom and they started peeling their face off. I can't remember if there were some insects or maggots. I just have a vivid memory of being traumatised. I have tried searching for the movie a few times, but never found it. It was back in the old VHS days when a guy would come round and rent movies from a suitcase ๐

Going to watch Poltergeist this evening. I hope you are right, it's been bugging me for a long time ๐

First horror I ever watched. Absolutely terrible but at a young age it was something else.

This is a tough one cos we used to watch horror movies as kids! Blair witch project was horrifying for me ๐
don't even like watching it now really ๐คฃ๐คฃ
The original Evil Dead and An American Werewolf in London. Special mention for Carry on Screaming, when I was really young.
For me it's a couple of scenes from Creepshow.

Stealth vape 2.0 *GIVEAWAY*
Really happy the feedback has been positive on the new vapes.
Had some really good interactions with a recent giveaway so have decided itโs my stealthy babyโs time to shine.
I love all the creative competitions going on at the moment but Iโll keep it simple. Reply with the name of your favourite forgotten footballer (Iโll accept celebs if youโre not a footy fan)
Draw will take place via random.org on Sunday night 03.12 at 8pm.

A footballer? A celebrity? A legend.
Facts. Sadly missed and as we all know itโs all gone completely to shit since his death.
Rest in power big guy.

If we're talking best players then Dennis Bergkamp. As for forgotten players I'd have to go with Michael Thomas, I'll never forget him, but he was responsible for the greatest end to a season there will ever be and he's not exactly a household name.
Thomas has his place in history it took until AGUEEEEERO for anyone to come close.

Just a reminder due to the intervention of โprove-itโ Borg the result of todays draw will be decided by the score of the first batsman dismissed in the West Indies v England cricket match starting at 13:30 GMT.
England win the toss and bat first so keep your eyes peeled on the first wicket down and your number in the draw.
If by some miracle the score goes beyond our final entrant weโll go back around.

Johnny Ekstrom, that guy could hit โem! Always remember him from European ties in the mid 80โs for Gothenburg. Used to always be him in the playground!
For me, it's gotta be Wayne Rooney. Ever since I found out we're slightly related, his games connect with me so much more. Legend.
Ronaldo Nazรกrio and Ronaldinho were popular in the mid 2000s and I used to collect stickers and exchange them with my class mates. I miss those times
Emile Heskey. Legend of the game. The only man who can hit the bar at point blank range in front of an open goal. Legend.
