Keep them coming folks... There are some really close guesses.... Also does anyone know why after a certain period the topic doesn't show up on the topic boards? We will give an extra pack away to anyone who can explain definitely

Topics disappearing could be down to…….
1 The "Cleanup Borg": LittleBiggy utilizes an automated moderation system/bot known as the "cleanup borg". If a topic is flagged for breaking site etiquette—such as aggressive spamming, targeting or bullying other users, posting threats, or executing highly repetitive "bumps"—the borg will "hoover" (delete or hide) the topic from the wall
2 Algorithmic De-prioritization & Velocity: The main page relies heavily on user votes and activity velocity. If a topic does not maintain constant engagement (upvotes or active discussion), it gets rapidly buried by newer or higher-velocity content, making it appear as though it completely vanished from the main wall.
3 Account Restrictions (Muting/Shadowbanning): If a seller or user account has been temporarily restricted, muted, or given "invisible" status due to recent order delays or open disputes, their associated topics and items may be automatically hidden from the public wall

Book readers in here? Recommendations?
Any book readers in here?
Baked last weekend with time to kill, decided to top it off by popping an edible or two and started re-reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Well... Suffice to say that I'm still thinking about it.
Metro 2033 was an interesting read while stoned, as was World War Z, I am legend, The Road, and the brilliant Children Of Men.
I will say, though, that reading Rosemary's Baby high left a very strange feeling in my heart. Like I truly have no idea what's happening just next door from me.
Y'all got any recommendations? Reading Lord of The Rings currently, then have a few philosophy & history books lined up.

i can't read books high as the words don't go in, and i find it amazing that anyone can!
but here are a couple of recommendations:
- mason & dixon, by thomas pynchon. possibly my favourite novel, and i recently finished a fourth or fifth reading of it.
- ways of being, by james bridle. fascinating book about AI, climate change, computing, and how we humans relate to (or fail to relate to) the non-human world.

oh good tip! and nice to know i'm not the only one who can't read when high.
i'm kinda resistant to audio books for some reason (i think podcasts fill that gap for me).
any favourite audiobook recommendations?

oh yeah I'm the same - can't really enjoy books stoned! Audio books are a good idea :)
Thomas Pynchon is such a good writer. My personal favourite is Gravity's Rainbow. Pretty sure that he would write a lot of his work completely high to help him get into the characters' heads...and then edit it sober. Which isn't a bad process. It's probably how he came up with a guy who's have sex when a missile falls, so they use his erection as an early warning system ;). Also a long, phantasmagorical trip down a toilet.

Aye, I really enjoyed the Unhappy Medium by TJ Brown, hilarious and Redshirts by John Scalzi is fun

Shantaram
Septimus Heap books (kids books, don't care, love them and read them yearly, Harry Potter can fuck off)
Ink and Sigil series

How about The Day Of The Jackal by Frederick Forsyth
for philosophy then Meditations by Marcus Aurelius of course 😀

For the science fiction enjoyers here I have a wonderful recommendation.
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman.
Ex Vietnam war vet writes a science fiction novel on intergalactic war. More specifically, the brutal realities of war and coming back to a society that has moved on without you.
It's also one of the best examples of intergalactic war I've read, the science in it is very sound.
I couldn't recommend it enough. The ending almost made me cry but man was it a satisfying and slightly mind bending. What a fucking ride that story is. Highly recommended.

Anything Jeff Noon. Start with Vurt though. Falling Out Of Cars is my favourite by him.
Thoroughly depressing dystopian shit, all set in a future Manchester.
It’s great. If you haven’t read Jeff. Read him immediately. It’s so bleak it totally cheers you up.
Automated Alice.
He rewrote Alice In Wonderland the minute it was out of copyright. Set it in Manchester. In the future. Published that shit.
You have to read Vurt and Pollen first, or it’s just nonsense. 🤣
Aldous Huxley.
Ol’ Bull Lee, Hunter S.
Foucault
Ol’ Palahniuk
Carl Sagan
Trainspotting. Irvine Welsh. It’s kinda Nirvana the band, in book form.
The Bridge. Ian Banks. Wasp Factory if you haven’t read it. Espedair Street is a great book also.
Lanark. Alasdair Grey.
Only Forward/Spares. Michael Marshall Smith.
Underrated books, that guy writes, if you like fun books to read.
Keats. Yeats. Byron. Pinter. Meadows. Morrissey. Mark E Smith. Linton Kwesi Johnson. The poetry of people like Mike Skinner and the master, John Cooper Clarke.
Dickens
HP Lovecraft.
John Lydon.
Kevin Shields.
Not books. Sorry.
Illuminatus!, Cosmic Trigger. Robert Anton Wilson. Carlos Casteneda. Because sometimes you want the bollocks to be true. Bit of Church of The Subgenius. Our captain and saviour. Roberto Dobbs.
Terence McKenna. Food of The Gods.
That’s a book.
Desmond Morris. Errol Morris
Alesdair Crowley. And yes. Jimmy Page did buy his Scottish retreat.
Look into that one. It’s a deep, interesting rabbit hole.
Allen Ginsberg, Tom Wolfe, Jack (Daniels) Kerouac.
Anais Nin
Henry Miller.
Sexytime.
Bill Gibson. Alan Moore. Alan Martin. Bill Drummond.
I’ve given you enough to be getting on with. I wish I could be reading all of that shit for the first time.
Don’t read any of these books or authors. They are a big part of why I’m so dysfunctional.
They do all cut through the bullshit kinda nicely. If you are open to it.

Wow - I can't believe I've never read Sherlock Holmes?! Sounds like an obvious thing... Need to add it to the list!

Seriously they are great and once you read them you understand why the name and stories haven’t disappeared enjoy !!!

Joe Abercrombie is my current favourite author. Kind of grim fantasy.
He builds characters so well you feel like you know them. Start with the First Law trilogy or The Heroes if you just want to dip your toe in.
If you prefer audiobooks the narrator who reads for him, Steven Pacey, is awesome. I didn't like audiobooks at all before listening to him

Absolutely loved Tender is the Flesh, someone lent it to me and I flicked through out of curiosity and didn't move til I finished the whole thing in one sitting
Lapvona is another I read recently which is really good if you dont mind something completely demented
The Elric of Melniboné saga is a really good mirror to LOTR, it's not the same level as lotr, and is in fact a direct criticism, but it's a super entertaining read and it feels like a lot of modern fantasy settings share their lineage equally between the two
Also since you mentioned metro, you should try out A Roadside Picnic. Glukhovsky himself has described it as a major influence and it's also just a great read, short and sweet

Hi there, I fulfilled a life goal (sadly it took a spine injury which is why I smoke so much lol) by collecting and reading every single Terry Pratchett book, namely the Discworld series, in order ofc lol. Described Like Lord of the Rings, but with comedy.
The early few books he's still finding his feet in the world he creates imo but soon it becomes a wonderfully weaved web of hilarity and a comparison of the real world and his own.
Theres also something for everyone, i personally like the "Guards" series following the careers of the officers there.
So many but a random quote without even checking.
"It's impossible to get through the day without committing some kind of crime, unless of course you stand all day in a dark basement.
But even then, you're probalbly guilty of loitering"
Theres a Wizards side, a Witches side, Trolls who get more intelligent the colder they get and DEATH, who really likes curry, and has a daughter.
I discovered this series over 20 years ago and now, read them all several times, have a peruse, theres something for everyone and all 40 odd books can be read individually or in sections

Bram stokers dracula , Dune by frank herbert ,anything by philip k Dick .. Gileads blood by Dan abnett.

If you like fantasy that doesn't take itself too seriously, anything by Joe Abercrombie. I've just finished his latest ' The Devils' and blew through it in a week, it's fantastic.

A couple of books I've really enjoyed reading while stoned are,
Jerusalem by Alan Moore.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
Jerusalem in particular opened doors to other realms, time, the Universe and our place within it that have never closed.

A few of my absolute favourites:
A Confederacy of Dunces - by John Kennedy Toole
Darkness at Noon - by Arthur Koestler
Stoner - by John Edward Williams
(haha not our kind, it's the character's name)
Blood Meridian - by Cormac McCarthy
The Master and Margarita - by Mikhail Bulgakov
All of these books have become important parts of me ever since I read them :)
For non fiction:
Neurosis and Human Growth - by Karen Horney
^ this helped me out in a tough time! Really interesting re human psychology.

For fiction, there's one book I've reread countless times over the years, and it's just as good every time: Nightworld by F. Paul Wilson.
Nightworld is the sixth and final book in Wilson's Adversary Cycle, a series of six interconnected novels. What's interesting about the series is that the first five books are largely standalone stories, each focusing on different characters and events. Although they initially seem like separate stories, they're all connected by an overarching conflict that gradually becomes clearer as the series progresses. The sixth book, Nightworld, brings the characters and storylines from those earlier novels together for one epic conclusion.
Ironically, I had no idea Nightworld was the final book in a series when I first picked it up. It was actually the first book I read, and I'm glad I discovered it that way. Having subsequently read the other five books, I personally don't think any of them quite match Nightworld, with the exception of the second book, The Tomb. They're still well worth reading, though.
The Tomb is particularly special to me because it introduces Repairman Jack, my favourite fictional character.
Although The Adversary Cycle finished with Nightworld, Wilson ended up expanding Repairman Jack's story into a much larger series of over 20 additional books, exploring his adventures and developing his character further. I enjoyed every one.
If you like supernatural horror, mystery and characters whose seemingly separate stories eventually intertwine, I'd highly recommend The Adversary Cycle, particularly Nightworld, along with the wider Repairman Jack series. If you do read any of them, would love to hear what you think. Happy reading!

It has been a while since I have been able to sit and enjoy a book. Please send me the motivation to do so

I can't read while high, and can't read while drunk. Just don't remember the next day what I've read. I've read LOTR so many times I pretty much know it by heart. Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac are obvious choices. You have Cormac McCarthy in there. Blood Meridian will fry your brain as will any of his earliest books. Then read the Border Trilogy. Anything by WG Sebald is a trip. Journey to the End of the Night by Celine. And if you truly want to go down the dark route read HP Lovecraft.

I simply love Papillon.
Its a brilliant read and a rip snorting adventure.
The old man of the sea is another great read. Firm favourite.
Moby Dick and the white whale is sooo worth it. Its a huge undertaking but when approached in the right atate of mind its a hugely rewarding read. Brilliant travel or sickness/recovery companion.
Shantaram has deservedly popped up on this topic quite a few times. Good read. Especially if you are wary of dogs......
Enjoy all

Might be a bit late to the thread but ragdoll by daniel cole is a book i wish i could read for the first time again, crime drama/detective fic, highly recommend. They turned it into a tv series too, which i havent seen yet so cant say if its as good as the book.
Real life stuff i just got done reading the rodchenkov affair, which was a very interesting read although i suppose a bit of a niche topic 😅

I've gone through loads of the SF Masterworks and I'd say the majority of them are really good.

Obviously it helps if you like your scifi.
Someone else I came across recently on reddit is Exurb1a; The Fifth Science
https://amzn.eu/d/cTb8lPV
Highly recommend, it's a collection of short stories that do sort of tie into one another. I loved it

Zoroastrianism" is interesting! Originates back over 3,500 years ago! I need to look into this! The last religion in Egypt when Cleopatra was alive was the "Worship of Isis" which was was over 4000 years ago, yet Hinduism is 4500 years old, crazy!
Please check out Rudolf Stiener "Atlantis and Lumeria" you will love that!

If your up for a mind blowing allegedly true story that is amazing try getting your hands on a copy of "The Vertical Plane" its an account of the Dodderton (that might not be spelt correctly) messages. I don't wanna spoil the plot for you or any potential readers so I'll leave it at that, anyone wanting to do there own research pre reading is welcome. Just learning about the incident is very interesting.

Cheers, Rambo. Gonna go find a new horseshoe as apparently my current one ran out of luck.
Just checking, is it a zip or a half for the grand prize? No danger, still entered but it says 10 winner/top prize 1 Oz, but you've listed the top as 14g and only 5 prizes. 2 winners per placement, possibly?

Disable the bomb and receive a lovely goodie bag from my menu straight to your door super stealth style

Whoever guesses to the closet £1 disables the bomb, becomes a hero and wins the goodies

I shall take a screen shot of the current BTC price in GBP at exactly 11pm GMT on Sunday the 17th using google then announce the winner soon after

GUESS THE WEATHER WIN 28G
Hi Dudes
The store is slowly growing and I couldn't be happier. Super Grateful for everybody! I'm blessed to announce the Buddha's first competition.
The closest estimate the hottest temperature recorded in London on Sunday 31st will win an ounce.
For example temperatures reached 29.8C last Sunday, so the winner would have been the closest to this number.
If multiple people guess the same number and they win, the ounce will be split accordingly. Entries will finish at 13:00 on Saturday 30th.
I hope this makes sense lol
Good Luck & Stay Blessed
Results will be determined from the data uploaded on
https://www.meteocentre.co.uk/historical-weather/london
