Is there even such a thing as 'privacy' anymore, I think we may need a new word for what we have now..

Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.

yes and the premise of identity- the one they give you in the matrix or the one you cook up here in zion -is at the root of it.

this. your given name is pretty much a slave/serf name in most cultures. if you want to change it you need permission from the master of the day.

privacy, I have judged, does not exist on this worldwide internet thing. vpn's - give me a break. using brave and that's about it
in my opinion, that there is any sort of privacy anywhere on the colourful web is mere fantasy

I often wonder if the people who have "nothing to hide" would be happy having cameras in all rooms of their houses so that Government-appointed snoops could watch them to CONFIRM that they've "nothing to hide"? If they're not OK with that then surely that suggests that they MUST have something to hide after all 😉. Cheers!

anonymous medical advice on lb?
I have an issue that I'd rather not share with the family doctor and I was wondering if there is anything here that might help.

Doctor Doc is what your're asking for, answers to any medical questions. More specifically there is Cancer is My Bitch for cancer issues and Well provides anonymous medical tests for many conditions.

It seems every fire season it's the same drill - oh my god this dry land is on fire > everyone evacuate while we gather every county employee and pay them overtime > let people die and property get destroyed > hail the heroes that ended this!

Aging is Reversible
Epigenetic reprogramming is proving to be the most fundamental aging switch around.

Also some other noteworthy switches here:
He says they currently think the brain’s hypothalamus—known as the seat of control for hormones, body temperature, mood, hunger and circadian rhythms—may also act as a regulator of aging.
Other approaches that have been discovered to have anti-aging benefits in animals include calorie restriction, the drug rapamycin and parabiosis—the practice of giving old mice a blood supply from younger ones. The fact that these diverse strategies all seem to work suggests there may be more than one way to age, and that multiple complementary therapies may be needed to significantly extend longevity,

'Parabiosis' - also known as vampire facials in Hollywood. Yes that's right, Kim Kardashian has aborted fetus blood rubbed on her face. This is common practice. Loreal also a whole range of more expensive products with this in it. Also 'Blood boys' are a profession. This is a rabbit hole you don't want to go down as usually the source of this blood is disturbing.

A vampire facial is carried out using a person's own plasma that's separated in a centrifuge from their extracted blood

yes very creepy when money is traded for life itself but it seems an ethical market is possible as healthy people have a surplus and all the means for extraction and testing are really well established.

Also did you know that you can slow down your biological aging by eating right, exercising right and your mindset plus environment by up to 3 times

Immortal worms defy aging
Planarian worms have amazed scientists with their apparently limitless ability to regenerate. Researchers have been studying their ability to replace aged or damaged tissues and cells in a bid to understand the mechanisms underlying their longevity.

I've been to so many Christian places, Buddhist, but never a Moslem one. Where do you suggest?

Apparently Jordan is quite chill. Haven’t been but have seen a documentary following a guy (Levison Wood) travelling around Arabia and definitely Jordan is more relaxed than some surrounding countries. Also Petra is in Jordan which looks amazing

Agreed, I went to Istanbul during Ramadan a few years ago and it was fantastic. Highly recommend that city, just a beautiful place and the food is amazing!
Cheers. BB
Cheers. BB

My Auntie and her “friend” went to Turkey during Ramadan and she said it was nightmare. Agreed that it was a beautiful place and the food was beyond superb.

I dunno, they didn't do too well in the Suez war... And I'm pretty sure the ottomans beat them a couple times too.

Malaysia & Indonesia definitely worth a mention! Very underrated as tourist destinations. Azerbaijan is a fairly secular Muslim nation, with a big drinking culture & nightclubs, same goes for Kosovo. Friend of mine visited both & had a great time. Apparently Kosovans love Brits. Morocco is very regional, but always friendly. I've never been but some of the best & most hospitable people I've encountered come from there - a colleague of mine gave me a big chunk of hash at work once because he was despairing at the shwag I was smoking (pre-LB days!).

Most ‘ordinary’ people are friendly and accommodating wherever you go, it’s the extremist hardline cultists in positions of power that are the cancer. Look at the U.K. for a hardline extremist cultist government!
Anyway, the Turkish are generally friendly.
There’s the Maldives and Tunisia which are also relatively safe.

"look at the UK for a hard-line extremist cultist government" I don't even know how to begin to comprehend this level of hilarious stupidity.
Look at the Afghan govt, sure, North Korea go right ahead... I'm not sure you understand what extremism actually is, or what the UK government actually does, I'll give you a hint though (you're a moron)
Also turkey being relatively friendly compared to the UK? I think you need to lay off the bud, bud.
However Tunisia is fantastic for a holiday, I can't fault that.

The fact you had to stoop to childish insults shows that actually you are the moron. :)
I’m pretty amused that you got so worked up about a bit of sarcasm, your medula oblongata kicked in before you had a chance to think!

Just given the genuine extremist governments out there, and the untold suffering extremism caused if it was a joke, it was in poor taste. The UK is a pretty progressive state and we should acknowledge that, it's not perfect by any means but it's safe, mostly fair and equality actually matters here.

Care to comment now seeing as interest rates are rising dramatically up due to kamikaze kwarteng and his sidekick?
I wouldn’t consider potentially putting families out of their homes and onto the streets because of some randian ideological monetary fantasy (tax cuts) to be any where near safe or fair.
Hindsight is a wonderful, wonderful thing my love….

You're right to call out a casual use of 'extremism' but, after watching our welfare state and essential services either systematically dismantled or sold off to profiteers, I'd have similar difficulties with your use of 'progressive'.

With like 220b given away on benefits to people abusing the system, 200b on our beloved NHS and that's just the tip, it's no wonder the government is cash strapped and trying to cut costs and sell off some stuff. Think having a classic car then having 5 kids without increasing your income (for args sake 70k a year), pretty soon the Ferrari will have to go will it not?
It's much, much more complicated than that of course but I don't particularly hate the government, and I can't think of another countries government I'd rather live under at the present time (mortgages in Holland are pretty sweet though)
I get tired of seeing anti government attitudes literally everywhere but mostly coming from people living off the state, I agree the welfare state situation is completely fucked up and should be wayyy stricter and harder to get and go with a healthy dose of stigma but I've literally heard people say "working is for ants" while drinking cheap cider paid for in JSA haha my faith in humanity dwindles but I have hope for our government!
I stand by progressive, very few places are anywhere near as free and fair and equal as humble old blighty. And yes, god save the Queen. 😂

My friend went to Iraq before lockdown and had a brilliant time. Iraqis are very friendly and tjough there are issues a well run tour will be worth it. Some of the architecture looks incredible.

I'd say pick a muzza country you like a go for it.
Being of Islamic faith I'd say most muslims actually really like modern American and European culture, it fits very well with our cultural structures.
As a non Muslim in an Islamic country, as a guest, you will be treated very well.
Only thing I would suggest is inglis88 mentioned Balsall Heath, cuzi is chatting bubbles. Sounds like a hater, it's just like any other urban area around the world, I should know. I just passed through it.

I travelled around SE Asia for a few months and I loved Lombok in Indonesia. We were stopping at a homestead that a Muslim family owned. They don't drink but were more than happy to get alcohol in for us travellers.
Indonesia in general I really enjoyed as well as Malaysia.

I'll vouch for Morocco. You've got to be streetwise of course, but a beautiful country with kind and generous people. You soon tune out the prayer calls.

Saddam Hussein went out shopping one day. Upon his return he was greeted by Uday, who said “what’s in the bag dad?”

Be prepared for the constant megaphone blasting prayers. Try to get a room as high and soundproofed as possible;)

i actually enjoy the meditation breaks, especially the feeling that people all over the world are sharing the moment. as long as i'm in the right time zone ;)

Even at stupid o’clock in the morning when trying to sleep?;)
I have been to a few Muslim places and am now sick of it. Just like if I see another temple or church;)

Fear is America's best selling product
That's why Amazon is selling it

Fear is America's best selling product
Lewis Lapham is right on. If we can just recognize fear and understand it instead of judging we can fix this.

And it's marketed in very sophisticated ways through social media. This article explains how it works.

I agree. There is individual fear, and collective fear. Individuals in America have stressful lives and poor parenting for the majority. Individual fears that hold people back include fear of death, fear of failure, fear of inadequacy (not being good enough). Mass fear includes fear of authority, fear of pandemics, fear of being taken over as a country. Fear can be dealt with by acknowledging and facing the fear with nonresistance. Still, fears are often not recognized because they are not on a conscious level. I do believe that meditation, psychedelic therapy, and transpersonal therapy can uncover subconscious fears and be released from their power.

State-sponsered fear is not unique to the US. Capitalism and communism both generate fear, but in the US, where capitalism has run amok, it is more subtle. US citizens tend to believe that they live in a democracy, yet there has been no progress in the 1 percenters sharing resources with the middle class and poor. Individuals have less rights to express their views because the powers at be that transcend political parties control the agenda of the media and the government. Through TV and other newspapers, citizens are programmed to live their lives in a controlled state of mind. The most pertinent of issues do not make the headlines. I could elaborate more, but just note that societal fear is a response to the denigration of individual rights, where the average citizen thinks that nothing they do or say will be acknowledged or change anything.

Cowboy Bebop is amazing, beautifully written, drawn, and directed. Don't be turned off by the 1st episode which isn't very sci fi and more like film noir cliche stuff. The future world unfolds over the episodes along with the back story of how it evolved though another great thing is each episode stands independently.

There is supposed to be a live action movie coming out at some point in the future. I thought there would be a third season but l guess l am wrong.

Steins gate is class. Time travel sci fi. Bit of a slow burner but get past the first two episodes it’s quality on Netflix as well.

Steins;Gate is brilliant. Some unique characterisations and a great, but inevitably confusing, take on the time travel concept with a ton of real world references and conspiracies. Solid choice. However, I highly recommend this viewing order: Steins;Gate episodes 01-22 then episode 23β (alternate version of 23), Steins;Gate 0 episodes 01-23 (you can watch somewhere online or on Crunchyroll) then original Steins;Gate series episodes 23-24. Sounds confusing lol but honestly this is the best way to experience the story.

Don’t know if this is a mad suggestion or if literally everybody has seen it. But the Animatrix ?
9 (I think) half an hour animated films set within The Matrix universe. All are interesting and well animated, but a few are stellar.
There’s one created by Shinichiro Watanabe, of cowboy beebop and samurai champloo (my personal favourite).
If you haven’t seen it, buy the dvd and watch it; if you have seen it, back me up!
Peace

back that matrix up, it's awesome.
the back and forth between ghost in the shell and the matrix gets its best iteration right here.

Terraformars (テラフォーマー, Terafōmā) are evolved humanoid cockroaches who live on Mars. They possess physical traits and skills that greatly surpass those of normal humans. They also appear to be somewhat intelligent and have a natural hatred for humans; much like how humans hate cockroaches.

Finished kaiba the other night from this recommendation. Thought it was class, trippy as fuck.

I love the premise here with the mind-body interchange but its really hard for me to get past the drawing. It seems more like something out of Spain in the 1930s than Anime.

Was about to say this, superb Anime!!
Also, an oldie but a classic is "The guyver" bio booster armour!!!

not sure it qualifies as science fiction - but! try to watch it when high when high.
DOROHEDORO
i'd love to hear from you when you do.
DOROHEDORO

Dorohedoro is fucking class. Watched the first season twice (high) then read the entire manga.

Deathnote was good, so was One Punch Man. Terror in Residence was really good too. And I quite liked Knights of Sidonia. Or just watch Akira and Ghost in the Shell and be done with it :)

Space dandy. Some really good episodes to watch stoned especially the first few.
Love death robots good shout.
Saiki k. Didn't watch stoned but really enjoyed it, might give it another look myself.
Non SciFi recommendation would be Kakegurui, if you haven't watched it watch it stoned it's really good. It's about gambling and girls that leak a lot of fluid.
Also 'close enough' is quite good to watch stoned from the makers of the regular show but for adults.
All should be on Netflix.

Thanks for the tip. It should be cool just based on the fact that he did Samurai Jack. And Ive found out a movie version was made and even submitted to oscars (fck oscars tho!).. Nice!!

serial experiment lain!!!, a bit old but still ahead of most anime... and I mean, Evangelion, if you have not seen it!

Cowboy Bebop. No qualifying statement required. It's a timeless classic. I wish I could see it for the first time again

Sci fi anime faves:
Noein (short series based on quantum physics theory),
Gintama (comedy anime partly set in space),
Ergo proxy (short dystopian series in futuristic world),
Inuyashiki (Old man becomes a weaponized cyborg and you follow his story),
Parasyte (High school kid gets infected by an alien parasyte),
And last but not least!
Psycho pass, it has 3 seasons and about 5 movies on the same world. A world which is monitored by an expert crime a.i. program, people get a hue which shows how likely to commit crime you will be, it's hard to explain but definitely my favourite sci fi series for a while.

Castlevania on Netflix is awesome! Not really sci-fi but the art style is great and a nice spin on an old tale. I binge watched 3 seasons in like 3days lol

How Would You Save the Roman Empire?
I think they saved lots with Constantinople and Christianity. We still use a lot of their language today and even arts, law and engineering.
The barbarians might have finished them off but the Romans did it to themselves. Extraordinary powers given to an Augustus wind up producing a Caligula.

I've always wondered about a time line where as Christians they see the immorality of slavery and we wind up with an industrial revolution a thousand years earlier :)

I have ordered stuff from the great team but it's not turned up ,they will not help, is there anything I can do to get any cash back.

yes, if it doesn't arrive in 2 weeks contact escrow suisse and make a dispute

I've also been waiting over 2 weeks for EU tracked, but they won't give me the tracking number nor update me on it's status, which, while I'm sure they are a verified vendor, is quite poor customer service.

Same issue with them. Actually standard EU option disappears when you make a purchase- I would prefer non-tracked for stealth reasons.

I have placed an order with them on 21.04, they marked as sent on 22.04 and I've received it on 05.05.
EU order
EU order

Congratulations. Glad yours dropped. I'm still waiting ordered 14g purp Dawg on 15th April 1st class uk dom. Boo hoo.

I've seen my deliveries jump from next day to currently 4 days. I think the backlog is now starting to spread more widely. I have decided to order some special delivery (which still seems to be making it through quickly, according to some people) to reduce the wall climbing. It's really hard to be patient... I've even resorted to using my old decarbed weed for edibles. However, I've looked at it as a well needed tolerance break (however involuntary!). I hope your order arrives soon! Keep the faith!

Me to. No communications. Just blame Royal Mail. If that many parcels have gone missing. Then it is definitely something on there side

I agree , way to many customers having a no show , second class post from Scotland to south coast arrived in 2 days , yes I see every region is different but this is getting a little silly now. Seems to be the only vendor having trouble. I’m starting to think the posties has clocked on to there stealth and intercepted them with these delays and no shows

Mine just arrived after 13days! And I’ve had loads of other mail and parcels with no issue. I really don’t think it’s the green teams fault. I’ve exchanged a few messages with TGT While waiting and have always had a response the same day, granted I was getting the same reply as you guys, that it was out of their hands and down to Royal Mail. They’re just being truthful, there’s not much more they can tell you tbf. Hang in there I’m sure it’s on it’s way!

Been waiting 18 days about 14 working days 1st class uk dom.Hoping it drops today but not holding my Breath. TGT have been responding to my worries and reassure me it's been sent and the probs are with RM. Did you get any joy ??

No sorry. I never had to dispute b4. But if you find out can you let me know. Mine didn't drop either so think I'm gonna have to dispute myself. Will message TGT again to see what they say.

Been waiting 20 days on an oz, last message from them was 6 days ago offering a 50% reship as it was sent regular post, nothing through the post yet for the reship, hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow, but they haven't ben replying to any messages. They're usually spot on, good delivery times, quality etc, and have never had a problem before.

They sorted it really quickly as soon as they got back to messages, lovely smoke as always from TGT

Point click and rat. Does anyone think this is a good thing?

This reminds me of the Chinese Social Credit Score system. Very bad precedent for society at large. This might be happening in SF, just because everyone there is trying to cook up every conceivable concept for an app in order to turn a buck.

there are a lot of people that are hardwired for this, i guess we need them but i think id rather be in front of the camera in this medium

Yeah fuck that people are just trying to get on with life

Hi Rebel
Great list; thanks for having made it.
I had experience with Hootan and was good hash and great cusomer care.
For the french one; I ordered 3 times in one year and never succeeded to ship....a shame.
I will go soon for the swiss one.
Hope this can help some biggaz

My friends and I have ordered from Hootan and nothing but good results. That's good to leave a review like that so people know what to expect. If you can vouch for, or against, that will help little biggas. I believe you mean AnAmericanInParis just to clarify.....sellers may get butt hurt however reputation is everything

Yes I meant anamericaninparis for the french one...
I made 50+ ordrers here and Hootan has been the best in term of support...
Stay safe

Wouldn't be going near An American in Paris, have a look at the reviews. One review in the past year saying they got something the rest saying they were refunded.
Swiss is on here a year and has 4 sales.. I wouldn't be risking myself.
Suisse and Bob only new so can't really say. Reviews seem good for new vendors.
Hootan one of the top vendors on here.
