Back on the packs! (to the tune of DC's 'Back in Black' 😁)
I said it’d be a while before I could afford more but, after enjoying the Zkittlez and Zoap so much, I couldn’t resist the urge to sample that level of taste and quality again… and those Jungle Boys’ packs have been on my mind for a year now! Here's how the itch scratching went:
Jungle Boys’ ‘Kush Sorbet’:
Of all the packs, the one that was most 'different' from what I’m used to was this. Beautiful dense, leafless, little nugs (up to 1.3g in size) with a nice structure. Light and very dark green flecks, lots of orange and frosty, twinkling crystals. A complex and difficult to describe aroma, smelling pleasant and unpleasant at the same time! Fruity and sour, with fresh earth and a little soap, and a hint of suede and doughnut! 😁 My smoking buddy said it smelled “like walking into a charity shop in the 80s” 😂 because of the fusty, dank smell. The taste is also difficult to describe - gassy, woody, piney, fresh earth with a little soap, mint and a subtle vanilla on the exhale - a little different but still very pleasant. What makes it so special, though, is the hit - Jesus Christ, the hit!!! It’s a 60/40 indica but the strength and the speed that it hits are unlike anything I’ve ever smoked before. The hit was immediate and very, very strong, and coming in massive waves. A very clean and ‘rushy’ hit and very euphoric - we were immediately smiling, laughing and very sociable. Affects the eyes like a strong edible, feels ‘energetic’ in your system and sends tingles through your body and head before leaving you super relaxed and a little drowsy with a warm glow. No mental chatter, very indica-y feeling. It’s definitely the strongest smoke I’ve had in 35+ years of smoking. I should say that that intensity - the rushes and euphoria - were mainly felt on the first smoke. It was the same with TGD’s Disco Biscuit, another strain I really liked. I assume it’s something to do with receptors being initially flooded with strong THC and particular terps or whatever - I’d like to understand it better if any biggas can explain. The overall strength, though, is present in every smoke. Prominent terps are linalool, limonene, phellandrene and myrcene (and I believe the myrcene is responsible for the euphoria). It’s a very special smoke and certainly something of an experience 😁 The strength of it blew us away - no whiteys or anything - I mean, come on! 😉 - but we did both have an initial moment of “fucking hell, how high is this gonna go?!!” 😂 It looks like the JB selection is constantly changing and I’m really glad I got to try this one 😊
Jungle Boy’s ‘DoSiKiller’:
Very nice looking small buds (up to 0.6g), perfectly trimmed, not as tightly structured as the KS. Dark green with yellow and lots of very dark, almost black, flecks, with lots of orange and a nice covering of crystals. Smelled very strongly of cut grass and pine woods, pissy/dank/gassy with a hint of something sweet like sherbert. The taste is really nice and difficult to describe - it has ‘warm’ flavours, there’s something of a cosy campfire about it (!), something like coriander seed or a warm liqueur, and the exhale/aftertaste is like the honeycomb from a Crunchie with a little vanilla. There’s also the coolness of mint without tasting of mint. Very pleasant, and more to my taste than the KS. It’s obviously indica-leaning and very strong, though not as strong as the KS, and quickly creeps up on you in a cosy, enveloping-sort of way, leaving you very mellow and deeply relaxed in your body. This was quickly accompanied by a very breezy, ‘open’ feeling in the head, giving a mental clarity, again without mental chatter. The toke was the tiniest bit hot on my knackered, old lungs. It’s a really nice smoke, strong again but completely different to the KS. The strength, cosiness and clarity might make it particularly good for anxiety and/or insomnia.
I’ll quickly say at this point that, after trying these 2 strains, I’m completely satisfied that the JB brand lives up to the hype. They’re of the very best quality - amazing, complex flavours, very clean and very strong. I’m not sure how often I’ll have them again - although I’d love to work my way through their different strains just to see what each is like, they’re *that* different to me - but, even if I could afford them regularly, they’re too strong for me to smoke all the time, and I don’t want my tolerance to get *that* high! At the same time, I’d love to *always* have a couple of these JB packs to hand for heavy sessions, special occasions, and those days where you deserve/need it 😉 I love flavourful weed and I know I’ll be craving this level/quality of taste again soon, and that’s from all the TGD calipacks I’ve tried so far, not just the Jungle Boys’.
The Ten Co ‘Blue Boba’:
More gorgeous small to medium-sized buds (up to 1.8g), dense, perfectly trimmed to leafless. Dark green, with the orange hairs and black and yellow flecks, spiderweb tiny crystals, very pretty. Smells gorgeous too - strong and sweet, vanilla, skunky, cut wood, pine, soapy (but not lemony). A very smooth and mellow smoke with a skunky piney inhale and a really pleasant creamy, vanilla dessert/smoothie exhale - the sort of taste that makes this an ‘anytime’ smoke for me, although the strength is definitely more 'for the evening'! I couldn’t easily find info about it but it’s strong and must lean to the indica - another clean hit with no mental chatter, the effect is relaxing and ‘comforting’, like being wrapped in something cosy, and a little woozy, similar to the DoSiKiller but not as strong. It’s a very nice smoke and probably my favourite (as a regular smoke) of the four.
Weed Bros’ ‘Biscotti x Gelato 41’:
One big pinecone-shaped bud (weighing 3.1g) and a couple of smalls. Once again very good looking, dense, chunky, trimmed down to leafless, dark greens, blacks, lots of orange, and tiny crystals. Fresh, bright smell, mainly cut grass and pine again, with soapy, citrusy, grapefruit tones - very pleasant. Initial taste is bright, citrusy and soapy followed by a mellow, warm, biscuity exhale. It’s apparently 50/50 but again felt more indica-y - a clean, pleasant, medium high (relative to the JB!), mellow in the body with a little ‘perkiness’ in the head and a dreamy, drowsy wobbliness in the eyes :) Prominent terps are phellandrene and limonene. Another pleasant smoke.
DojaPak ‘Legend’ (Sample):
I’ll quickly mention that the gents were kind enough to send me a small sample of their Dojapak Legend - and it seemed to have magical lung-opening qualities! I’ve made a post about it ('A Strain for the Bronchially-Challenged?!! TGD's DojaPak 'Legend') if anyone (fellow asthmatics?) might be interested or can help explain it. I won’t review it fully because it was a small sample that I didn’t pay for, but it seems to be another excellent offering from DojaPak. Smooth, tasty and strong in a mellow way, a very good fit for me personally, and something I’ll definitely add to my next order, you know, for science 😉
Gas Co ‘Gelato 33’:
Lastly, I want to give some love to TGD’s cheapest calipack, their Gelato 33 - though I’ll be quite happy if you want to leave it all for me to have 😁 It’s not bursting with crazy, intense flavours and it’s not ‘knock you down’ strong, but it’s a personal favourite of mine. Unassuming, ‘normal’-looking little buds with a really smooth and mellow draw and a subtle sweet/vanilla/creamy/ice cream taste on the exhale. Definitely strong enough - a nice, clean, medium high that I’m happy to have anytime of the day or night, and I really like it. It’s a 50/50 with a nice indica-y body feeling and a little perkiness up top. Apparently it’s ‘unusual’ for it’s 2 most prominent terps (caryophyllene and bisabolol) to be so prominent in a strain. Those 2 terps are both apparently anti-inflammatory (and good in other 'healing' ways), which might be another reason it seems such a good smoke for me. Please excuse the poor terps knowledge, by the way - I’ve no idea what I’m talking about, but find it interesting and want to learn more 😂
